Gütersloh, May 27, 2008 – Markus Schmedtmann (37), who has so far been Chairman and CEO of arvato direct services, will become Chairman and CEO of the Mohn media group as of June 1, 2008. He will succeed Markus Dohle (39) who will change within Bertelsmann AG and become Chairman of the Board of the Random House Division as of that same date, according to informed sources. The responsibilities of Markus Dohle within the arvato Board will pass to Rolf Buch (43), the Chairman of the Board of arvato AG.

Markus Schmedtmann is a manager from within the company who has demonstrated great technical and interpersonal skills in the past in his extremely successful work for arvato services. He represents creativity and entrepreneurship, and has been a guarantor of the extraordinary, dynamic growth of the arvato services segment in the past few years. He will continue the excellent performance of Markus Dohle at Mohn media, said Rolf Buch. I would like to thank him for his achievements in the past and wish him good success with his new tasks, also on behalf of my fellow arvato Board members.

Buch continued, Mohn media is the flagship within our printing division and plays a key role in our future strategy. The Mohn media team developed the purely production-based company into a broadly positioned print services provider and integrated numerous new services into the overall process during the past six years. According to Rolf Buch, Markus Schmedtmann will continue to intensify this process and drive the transformation of the entire Mohn media group into an integrated provider of tailor-made solutions for all aspects of the production of print media forward. He will be capable of drawing on his manifold experience from the services range, rely fully on the excellent team of Mohn media and especially leverage on the know-how and innovative power of its personnel, according to Buch.

I am very happy to be appointed Chairman and CEO of the Mohn media group, and I am proud to be given this important entrepreneurial task, Markus Schmedtmann pointed out. It is a great challenge, but also a huge opportunity to work together with the keen professionals of Mohn media on the development of the company, Markus Schmedtmann continued.
